Flash a unit

Turn an ATOM Echo into a Heyra unit.

Plug it into this computer over USB, hit flash below. Everything happens in your browser — no dev machine, no compiling, nothing installed on the Heyra Add-on.

1. Flash

One shared firmware image works for every unit — Wi-Fi and the unit's identity are set up after flashing, not baked in.

Your browser doesn't support WebSerial. Flashing needs a desktop build of Chrome or Edge — it isn't available on Firefox, Safari, or mobile browsers. This page needs to be served over HTTPS for WebSerial to work.

2. What happens next

After flashing, the unit reboots into setup mode — no network configured yet.

Connect to the unit's setup network

It broadcasts its own open Wi-Fi network, named something like heyra-atom-echo-a1b2c3 (the suffix is unique per device). Connect to it from your phone or laptop.

Give it your real Wi-Fi

A setup page should open automatically (or visit http://192.168.4.1). Enter your home network's name and password. The unit reboots and joins it.

Assign it a Unit ID, from the Heyra Add-on

Once it's on your real network, it shows up under Devices found on your network in the Heyra Add-on's Ingress panel — pick which configured unit it is there and hit Assign. No need to visit the device itself.

Re-flashing or a different board?

Run this same page again — flashing is safe to repeat. Only the ATOM Echo is supported today; see firmware/boards in the repo for the hardware contract a new board would need to satisfy.
